I began falling in love with photography while using a pink plastic point-and-shoot in the woods surrounding my childhood home. Moving up to an old Honeywell Pentax with black & white film in high school helped define my vision and personal style, based on natural light and strong compositions. In 2005 I received my BFA in photography from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland and I am currently pursuing my Master of Fine Arts through the online program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

I am inspired by the changing light and color of Oregon's seasons, a sense of drama imparted during my time as an actress, and a love of literature developed during the many hours of my childhood spent inside fantastic realms of myth and legend.

I made the switch from traditional film to digital photography in 2005 and am enjoying the many opportunities provided by the digital process. This new and colorful world combined with a move back to the North Umpqua three years ago motivated me to attempt landscape photography and the digital realm provided me with the opportunity to begin making self-portraits.

I believe viewers look to artists for an insight into the world, the psyche, and human relationships; I endeavor to communicate something of my world, real and imagined, not as a documentary of my life, but through the shared experience of creating and viewing artwork. Using photography as my medium provides an unparalleled opportunity to show actual places and moments, but colored by my own interpretation and experience.

Though the photographs are captured digitally I usually do little manipulation in Photoshop beyond some simple color correction and dodging and burning (similar to my old darkroom process). All of the work seen here was created by a woman and her camera, sometimes with the help of a hand-held remote.

Thank you for your interest in my work. Please contact me for prints and to inquire about portrait, fashion, and other photography needs.
